Juneteenth and Beyond: Historical Context on Racial Inequality in North Carolina (2024)

This publication explores the historical and contemporary issues of racial inequality in North Carolina, highlighting the significance of Juneteenth and its implications for social justice.

The American College Health Association (ACHA) and Fayetteville State University Student Health Services. ( 2023) “Emotional and Well-Being at Fayetteville State University”. The UNC System Behavioral Health Convening 

Assisted in analyzing the preliminary findings from the American College Health Association (ACHA) Emotional and Well-Being survey conducted at Fayetteville State University to curate a presentation for the 2023 UNC System Behavioral Health Convening.

Ruff, R. (2022) “Understanding Student Leadership at Historically Black Colleges and Universities: A Critical Review of Literature”. Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program

A systematic review to analyze the state and impact of student leadership at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Research Accelerates Possibilities (R.A.P.) Programming 
(2021 - 2022)

Worked with the Delta Research and Education Fund (DREF) to manage and employ activities around health equity at Fayetteville State University. 

Planned collection events for health data from members of Cumberland County and the Fayetteville State University Community for the All of Us Research Initiative.

Fayetteville State University Inclusive Co-Curricular Calendar (2022)

Created a calendar for Fayetteville State University to adopt more days of recognition in an interactive calendar to acknowledge all parts of the student body and create a space for entities within the campus to collaborate on programs that positively impact student life.

Transformational Leadership for Diversity and Inclusion (2022)

Worked with Dr. Miriam Chitiga  on providing programming for faculty and students for professional development around Diversity and Inclusion. 

Mealy, Todd M. and Steffany Baptiste-Bosco. (2021). “Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. vs. the Media, 1955 to 1968.” Lancaster, PA: National Institute for Customizing Education, LLC.

Conducted quantitative content analysis concerning Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.

Cultural Connections Project (2021)

Virtually worked with Ugandan non-profit organization, Agape of Hope, to develop proactive solutions to equip young Ugandan women with information and knowledge of reproductive health and human rights.

 

Produced a short film on the dimensions of our identity, What's In a Name.

Model United Nations Resolutions (2021)

Drafted four resolutions during the The 32nd North Carolina Consortium for International and Intercultural Education (NCCIIE) Model United Nations Conference. Presented resolutions to the Humanitarian Concerns and Human Rights Committee and all participating delegations. Three resolutions were passed by the majority vote of the delegations.

The UNC System Racial Equity Task Force Final Report (2020)

Represented Fayetteville State University to make suggestions for improving equity across UNC System Institutions in the Racial Equity Task Force Final Report.

Break Free From Plastics Pledge (2019-2020)

Led the effort for Durham Technical Community College to become the first Community College to commit to reducing single-use plastics with the Post-Landfill Action Network (PLAN) #breakfreefromplastics pledge.

An independent systematic review to complete requirements of the Hank & Billye Suber Aaron Young Scholar Summer Research Institute. This examined standardized testing and its impact on the achievement gap between minority and white students.

A graduate poster project as part of the requirements for the Hank & Billye Suber Aaron Young Scholar Summer Research Institute. This study examined equity in the North Carolina education system, specifically the impact of poverty on the ability to learn for K-12 students in North Carolina.
